Offering classes to adults and children at all skill levels on tin whistle, Irish flute, fiddle, concertina, harp, accordion, banjo, guitar, singing, bodhran, and set dancing. The group has been responsible for growing and nurturing several generations of traditional musicians in the Detroit area, going back to the 1970's.

It has been based in various spots around metro Detroit over the years, from Ferndale's White Heather Club, to the Gaelic League in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. Since 2010, it has proudly been based at the Green Wood Center, on Ann Arbor's east side. Detroit Irish Music Association is not affiliated with Green Wood FUMC, though they enjoy a wonderful partnership and the use of their beautiful facility!
