About

School of Rock is a performance-based after school music education program that provides individual music lessons taught by working musicians, group rehearsals, performance experience, exclusive limited access to the school and equipment during business hours, and branded merchandise for students between the ages of seven and nineteen. We provide a rock music program for children, a method of teaching students through performing in front of a paying audience in a real rock venue, and regional groups of elite students known as “The School of Rock All Stars”.

Dianna is a business person and entrepreneur who has come to the school for her love of music and kids She enjoys classic rock, r&b, country and blues.. Her mission is to make Ann Arbor THE premier school by maintaining an excellent program with the best staff.




SHAWN DONALDSON

Lead Instructor - Guitar, Bass, Keys

Shawn Wayne Donaldson is a guitarist, performer, recording artist, arranger and song writer beginning at the age of 14. Despite his visual impairment, and from a very young age, Shawn displayed a remarkable aptitude for a variety of artistic media. He is largely self-taught and known for his remarkable talent for playing by ear. Over the years, Shawn has played everything from rock to jazz to bluegrass to classical. Some of Shawn’s major musical influences include Wes Montgomery, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, and Joe Pass.






LYNDSAY BURKE

Lyndsay is a junior at the University of Michigan studying voice performance and also pursuing her teaching certification. She loves working with children and hopes to help her students to be confident, develop their beautiful voices, and make the music their own. In addition to studying classical music and opera, Lyndsay is the music director of the U of M a cappella group, The Dicks and Janes, and loves singing music of many genres with them, including pop, rock, alternative, and jazz. She can't wait to help each student find his or her own voice and, of course, have fun making music.





GORDON WILSON

Born and raised in Michigan, Gordon is a self taught multi-instrumentalist who firmly believes music should come from the soul. He first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. He loves most types of music but has covered ground in rock, jazz, blues and country. Working daily with music and teaching has been a life long dream.





GREG WITTMAN

Instructor

Greg brings a long history of guitar playing, study and technical knowledge. He teaches and plays both guitar and bass and is eager to share his knowledge and experience with his students. Greg believes it is important for students to be comfortable and while they learn to express themselves through music.


JACK SZKUTNIK

Instructor - Bass, Drums, Guitar

Jack is a multi-instrumentalist pursuing a degree in journalism at Eastern University while simultaneously trying to further his understanding of music. He's been teaching for three years and plans to continue throughout college. His genres include EDM, Jam Bands, and Hip-Hop.







BRANDON

Brandon is a Guitarist and songwriter from Monroe MI. He began playing guitar at the age of 12. He started out as a self taught musician and continues to evolve in his style and skills. He is proficient on guitar, bass and drums with a diversity of personal musical interests. Brandon enjoys working with students to help them discover their musical goals and how he can best help attain them.




EMILY COURCY

Emily is a junior at the University of Michigan studying English, Communications and, of course, Music. She is an experienced vocalist with a background in classical styles, but she thinks rock and pop are a lot more fun! She is the singer and bassist in an alternative rock band, but also plays acoustic guitar and writes her own indie folk tunes. Any genre is welcome! Emily has found so much joy in creating music, and she can’t wait to help new rock stars find that joy too.





ARIANNA BARDONI

Instructor - Voice, Keys, Guitar

Arianna is a music major with a focus in voice at Eastern Michigan University. Although she studies classical voice at a collegiate level, she is well versed in jazz, soul, rock, and r&b vocal genres. Arianna has a deep passion for song writing and has been doing so almost all her life. Voice is the instrument with which she is most knowledgable and trained, however she has been playing keys since the age of 10 and rhythm guitar since age 13. It is her goal to bring music into the lives of others, whether that is through teaching, song writing, performing, or collaboration. It is Arianna’s mission to evoke passion for music within her students, as well as develop their skill set while building the confidence to perform.
