Peoples Records has been a Detroit staple for quite some time. The owner, Brad Hales, started below the old Forest Arms building on Forest and Second until a fire in 2008 forced him to move. Eventually settling into a space on Woodward adjacent to the Majestic Theatre. In 2015 Brad opened in a 8,500-square-foot space at 1464 Gratiot is shares with Trinosophes just outside of the Eastern Market. Eventually closing the Woodward location. In 2016 Brad opened Peoples Records North on Livernois just 2 blocks south of the Historic Baker's Keyboard Lounge. The Gratiot location known as Peoples Records East also is the home of MAHS Michigan Audio Heritage Society Museum.
