About

Sean Dobbins and this quintet take their name, Modern Jazz Messengers as tribute to Art Blakey and the Blue Note hard and post-bop musicians of the 60's who influenced at least three generations of jazz lovers.

The Jazz Messengers were an influential jazz combo that existed for over thirty-five years beginning in 1955 as a collective and ending when long-time leader and founding drummer Art Blakey died in 1990.
