Biographies

Dave Bennett

A multi-instrument phenomenon, Dave Bennett is a clarinet virtuoso who plays electric guitar, piano, drums and vocalizes. He is the only artist anywhere saluting The Roots of Pop:covering music from the Swing Era to early Rockabilly and Country, to Elvis Presley, the Beatles and more.

Entirely self-taught, Dave began at age 10 on clarinet listening to and quickly playing along with Benny Goodman records.

 


Doug Cobb

Originally from the Flint area, Doug moved to Saginaw, and has worked extensively with jazz and commercial groups throughout Michigan. Among his credits are a number of tours on board the Mississippi steamboats of the Delta Queen Line.

 


Ed Fedewa

Ed Fedewa is an instructor of classical, jazz, and electric bass at the Michigan State University Community Music School.

He received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Bass Performance. While at Michigan State University, Ed was awarded the Outstanding Performance award from the Notre Dame Jazz Fest.

Ed has performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony, as the principle bassist for the Lansing Symphony, and as a substitute for the Flint Symphony and has been an instructor at Lansing Community College, Central Michigan University and Albion College.

 



Jeff Kressler

Jeff has been an active jazz pianist and arranger for many years. He received his B.M. and M.M. from Michigan State University, and has contributed dozens of arrangements to the libraries of both the Spartan Marching Band and the Jazz Ensemble. He has also written arrangements for both bands and orchestras at several other universities and high schools throughout the nation.

He has performed with many of the top jazz artists in Michigan, and has played with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and Johnny Trudell. He has been a pianist for the Greater Lansing Symphony, the Battle Creek Symphony, and has backed such artists as Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Nancy Wilson, The Four Freshman, and Bob Newhart. He is a retired band director of DeWitt Public Schools and has been a jazz keyboard instructor at Central Michigan University.
