About

Emerging from the rich and flourishing music scene of Detroit, hip hop group Cold Men Young offers a vibrant sound born from the hope of their hometowns gritty blue collar backdrop and pulsating creative culture. The emcee collective’s four members, (Phenom, Mic Write, Kopelli & Blaksmith) were brought together by mutual respect of each other’s mastery of their lyrical craft while frequenting Detroit’s burgeoning open mic circuit over the years. Every member contributes his own unique style to create an excitingly diverse and original audio collage with every composition.

The quartet effortlessly assembles songs covering topics familiar and relevant to the lives of everyday people; compelling audiences to cut loose, dance, think, and take positive action in their individual lives and community.

Award-winning poet Mic Write contributes song ideas and vivid imagery, Blaksmith captures attention with his booming voice, Kopelli lends catchy hooks and female-friendly rhymes, and Microphone Phelps showcases raw, unadulterated bars. The four combine to make energetic crowd participative live performances and emotive, conceptually-deft records.
