About

Sean Z is a Detroit-born singer/songwriter whose blues infused pop-rock is sure to capture the imagination of music-lovers, young and old, the world over. His love for music began at age 13 out of unfortunate and unlikely circumstance: a broken arm. Unable to play the sports he so loved, he found comfort tinkering on his parents piano with his unbroken right hand. The show of interest in music prompted his father to dust off an old Martin acoustic guitar he had bought when he was a boy. Though his arm was in a cast, Sean began teaching himself to play by using his thumb to form chords. Once the cast came off, he was a naturally gifted guitarist.

In high school, Sean discovered his love and aptitude for singing as well and joined a band. Shortly following that Sean Z started his own project - his first band, Calamity Jane. Calamity Jane released two CDs (Marooned and A Thousand Miles Wide) and garnered a loyal following by performing at many college campuses throughout the midwest. After graduating from Michigan State University with a bachelors degree in Engineering Arts, Ziegenhagen moved back to Detroit to pursue his music career as a solo artist under the moniker Sean Z. He has earned the reputation as one of America's most outstanding singer/songwriter/guitarists with his blues infused pop-rock.
