About
Oblique Noir performs an eclectic, multilingual repertoire in a genre we've dubbed “World Lounge Music.” The lineup is Djeto Juncaj on guitar, accordion and oud; Brett Lee Pickens on percussion; Sylvia Inwood on vocals. They put their own spin on vintage boleros from Cuba, classic tunes and lesser-known gems by such diverse artists as Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Los Lobos, Fred Neil, Junior Parker, Edith Piaf, and Kurt Weill; theme songs from classic films as well as a few original compositions. Cover tunes sung in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Albanian showcase Sylvia’s dynamic vocal presence and gift for languages.
