About
H.R. Rustica is an old-school, garage rock and alternative band out of Armada, a small town in Northern Macomb County, Michigan. The band was founded by Donald Goulette, a singer/songwriter/guitarist who began writing and performing in his barn with a variety of musicians from his hometown. The current line-up began to take shape when his cousin-in-law from Clinton Township, Jim Olson, joined on drums.
Michelle Wolf, a singer from Clinton Township, answered an old-school poster that had been hung up on local bulletin boards.
After co-founder and friend, Jacob Davis, had to leave the band, Don's sister Cecelia Goulette joined on bass.
For about a year, the band cut it's teeth playing as “The Barn Swallows” at any local show they could get on. After finding several other folk bands using the same name, they began calling themselves H.R. Rustica as of January, 2015.
After completing their debut EP in April of the same year, long-time guitarist Robert Darling left the band to concentrate on his studies. Bill White joined on guitar and backing vocals, completing the current line-up.
H. R. Rustica has worked their way onto bigger and bigger shows. They have begun opening for national acts; and now, they've started to headline many shows of their own at local venues such as The Detroit Pub, The Ritz Detroit, Diesel Lounge Detroit and Pub 1281. They are among the premier up-and-coming bands in the Detroit area. This is a modern, hard working, from the heart, take-no-prisoners rock and roll band that plays literate, alternative rock music with a soul.
